The Most Annoying Characters In Soapville

The greatest soapies have ensemble cast full of characters that we all enjoy watching. However, even some of our favourite shows have characters that annoy us the most, whether because of how they were written, the actor playing them or how they joined the show.

These are the characters that annoy us more than any other in soapville:

1.Generations The Legacy: Nontle

Played by Buntu Petse, Nontle is a nagging teenager who’s always looking for a new adventure; from bidding her virginity online, getting her best friend’s aunt fired to claiming her stepfather seduced her. It really sounds like she’s trying too hard to get someone’s attention or maybe it’s just a case of daddy issues. I can’t remember the last time we were looking forward to someone leaving.

2.Uzalo: Mazaza

The role of Mazaza was first played by former Isibaya actress; Sphelele Mzimela who apparently had complications with her pregnancy and fainted on set. Mzimela got replaced by Mpume Ngwenya, who like her predecessor isn’t doing a great job. The character was introduced by Gabisile(Baby Cele’s character) to create a wedge between her ex-husband, Nkuzi and his ex-wife Mamlambo. She was told to seduce him, sleep with him and make him fall in love with her, which she failed to do.

The trouble started when she slept with Nkuzi’s son(Sbonelo) as well, who ‘fell in love with her’ and fell out of love with her later on. Sbonelo and Gabisile(his mother) then decided to get rid of her permanently, which worked for everyone because she was unpleasant to watch and infuriating. Now it turns out she’s still alive and has come back to the show. Talk about a recurring nightmare!

3.Rhythm City: Cuba

Maggie Williams plays Puleng’s mother; Cuba, an over-talkative, liar and backstabber who will do whatever it takes to get her way. She often gets into her daughter’s relationships and will do the unthinkable to get any man she wants, Yikes!

4.Skeem Saam: Mr.Langa

Mr Langa is played by Phillip Molepo, a sexist, manipulative businessman who will sleep with any woman who’s trying to climb the corporate ladder or get a business deal from him. Basically he’s a serial womanizer who’s loaded with every STD you can think of and doesn’t take no for an answer.
