Take a Soapie Break: Watch These New TV Shows Instead

I love soapies, in fact, I’m addicted to them. But sometimes I detest the long, drawn-out and boring storylines that come with them. These days they don’t even have good actors anymore, yup, they’ve all left in droves because they’ve had enough.

Take a soapie break by watching these two, upcoming, authentic Telenovelas on BET Africa (27 July 2020) and MNET(September 2020).

New SA TV Shows Coming Soon

Isono (The Sin)

From Africa to the World! Fans of The River would love this Telenovela as it promises to deliver gripping, edgy and dramatic African story that everyone can relate with. Produced by Clive Morris and BET Africa, Isono deals with a dysfunctional family that has to overcome their own challenges. It comprises a star-studded cast of local talent, the likes of  Nthati Moshesh, Rami Chuene and many more.

If you loved Nthati in Saints&Sinners and you followed Rami from her days in Muvhango,The Queen, then you’ll definitely not regret watching this.

Moshesh will play the character of Mary, a ruthless woman of faith, while Chuene joins the cast as Jumima aka Juju, a gossipmonger who often buys into occasional conspiracy theories.

The Legacy

Think the elegant Brooke Logan and the classy Stephanie Forrester and all things ‘Bold&Beautiful’ in Africa, on a South African channel and you have The Legacy. Even better because it’s a Telenovela with our favourite actresses of all time, Michelle Botes (popularly known as Cherel Devilliers-Haines from Isidingo), Kgomotso Christopher (Scandal’s Yvonne Langa) and many more.

Executive produced, created and written by Phathutshedzo Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, (the duo from Tzheda Pictures). These are the same producers behind the multi-award-winning Telenovela ‘The River’ and who are scriptwriting for Mzansi’s Magic’s Gomora.

Follow the production company on social media and keep watching MNET for the release and exact dates of this upcoming Telenovela.
