Soapville’s worst dressed characters with serious Wardrobe Malfunctions
While some soapie characters (like Lindiwe Dikana, Harriet Khoza, Gita McGregor) leave behind a legacy of inspiring fashion, others leave behind a trail of sore eyes (such as Generations Tau Mogale’s dressing in tight shirts and exposing his breasts and who could forget 7de Laan‘s Paula’s outrageous outfits). Though these characters are fictional, they’ve become so real to us that we can’t help but judge them harshly.
I’ve compiled a list of fashion faux pas that is so bad that even good looks and a rockin’ personality can’t hide the overcasting shadow of a hideous wardrobe.
Worst Dressed SA soapie Characters
KK Mulaudzi – Muvhango
The first thing that comes to mind when I mention KK Mulaudzi is his colourful, unmatching suits, the second thing I think about is ‘ghost’ his character’s nickname. KK plays an eccentric, abusive, manipulative villain who will do whatever it takes to win. Unfortunately, KK’s outfits don’t do justice to his villainous personality and we think it’s time this changed.
Beauty – The River
Galaletsang Koffman plays the character of Beauty on The River; a funny, colourful character who always leaves us in stitches. But even her fun-loving personality and natural beauty can’t distract us from her awful style. One of Mzansi’s most-loved television characters. She’s fun, colourful and full of life. The odd mix of loud hair don’t match any of her outfits and the overly layered make-up makes us think that she’s a ‘lady’-of-the-night’.
Fikile – Uzalo
Fikile’s over-the-top personality and over-the-top-outfits are like a mixture of tea and coffee; totally unnecessary. The revealing cleavages and the loud make-up seriously make me want to switch off my T.V. every, single, time! Perhaps it’s time they tried the ‘less is more’ approach as before.
Dawn Thandeka totally crushes the MaNgcobo character but, even her acting skills can’t elevate that wardrobe. She doesn’t always dress up so hideously, it’s an on-and-off thing and when it’s off, it’s completely OFF, like from her hair to her nail polish (we notice everything). Whether the stylists are experimenting with her character or are simply running out of outfit ideas for her character, we request they stop experimenting right away as we prefer the ‘old classy MaNgcobo’.
